New York Facility Power Event 5-18-2017 (Updates)

As of 2:29 AM EST, our New York datacenter facility is experiencing multiple power events which have impacted and limited capacity of our power facilities.   At approximately 8:05 pm electrical outages were wide spread in the New York Capital Region due to severe weather events, and our facility has been running on backup power systems since then.  We have experienced a failure among one of our power generation units, and are working to restore full capacity at this time.   While there are no current outages, we are informing our clients that some capacity is limited, and redundant power generation systems are not working at full capacity at this time.   It is possible further power events or storms in the area, or backup power systems could disrupt service to some clients in our New York facility, we will update as often as possible until normal status is resumed.

Update: as of 4:40 am there are no current outages related to this event, our teams are on site and continue to work on restoring redundant capacity to normal levels, and as a precaution are still updating our clients of the current status

Update as of 7:50 am – there are no current outages related to this event, our teams on site have restored most redundant capacity, but are still performing maintenance to fully restore capacity to normal levels for the redundant power systems.  As a precaution we continue to update our clients of this current status regarding our New York Datacenter.

Update as of 9:35 am – all services have been fully restored in the last hour – and additional redundancy tests have been completed  While no disruption to client services were experienced during this event, given the nature of the loss of primary utility power in addition to redundant backup systems partially impacted by the wide scale weather event  (40,000 other businesses impacted in the region), we provided these updates to our clients in an abundance of caution.

TurnKey Internet maintains multiple levels of redundancy in all systems (electrical, mechanical, network) and has a policy of keeping clients informed of any change in status, even if a redundant system is degraded or maintenance to be performed.  If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to your account manager with any questions.
